Cosmic Grindhouse Horror Warps Your Halloween Game Night with The Last Wardens Tabletop Roleplaying Game

1970s Horror Collides with Supernatural Adventure in the New TTRPG from Studio Far Horizons

"Faced with an unimaginable threat, it may be a battle you can’t win–but you can’t go down without a fight!"

North Kansas City, MO – Get ready to confront twisted horrors lurking in the shadows of 1975 America with The Last Wardens Tabletop Roleplaying Game, a brand-new TTRPG based on the breakout Mad Cave Studios comic series from Amit Tishler and Elliot Sperl. Players take on the role of Wardens, humanity's only defense against an enigmatic force older than our universe.

The Last Wardens TTRPG brings to life the grindhouse gore, cosmic body horror, and supernatural (semi) heroics that fans of the hit comic series love. Using the award-winning Year Zero Engine, players will explore a world of mind-bending mysteries, gruesome confrontations, and warped mutations. The Year Zero Engine's high stakes risk-and-reward mechanics have been reimagined for a 1970s grindhouse setting, with new twists to capture the flavor of the comic. Players can create their own "Cell" of human Wardens, or even play an unlikely survivor of the horrors of a Drift. But not without terrifying…changes.

The terrors within the Last Wardens TTRPG are more than "monster of the week." Players unravel the mystery of their lost predecessors and attempt to recover vital knowledge of the Great Drift. Between missions, they slowly construct and fortify their own secret base of operations. From relentless government agents to fanatical cults, the threats are as diverse as they are deadly in this unforgettable journey into horror.

To prepare players to face the horrors wrought by The Great Drift, a free starter game will be available for digital download starting October 18, 2024 at www.thelastwardensgame.com. Then, on March 11, 2025, the Limited Edition Core Game will hit store shelves, launching alongside the trade paperback of the first comic story arc and an audio drama series from Encyclopocalypse Publications, creating a mindblowing, immersive multimedia experience for fans.

The Limited Edition Core Game will be available in print and digital formats, with a suggested retail price of $19.99 for digital-only and $39.99 for the print+digital edition. Brave souls who preorder from Studio Far Horizons before December 13, 2024 will receive several digital exclusives, including grotesque Drifter STLs for 3D printing and exclusive character sheets.

The TTRPG is the inaugural game from Studio Far Horizons and was developed in partnership with comic creators Amit Tishler and Elliot Sperl. Produced by Bart Vickers (D&D Beyond, Tales of Xadia, Demiplane) and Jon Barry (Forged Gaming), The Last Wardens Tabletop Roleplaying Game will grow beyond its initial release via a steady flow of online content to further enrich the 1970s setting, player options, and gamemaster tools.

“Working with Amit and Elliot to bring this project to life has been an awesome experience, and we’re just getting started!”, said Barry. “Bart and I can’t wait to share the characters, stories, and mechanics we’re developing to bring The Last Wardens to the game table. “

“Giving fans of The Last Wardens so many ways to experience the universe and story is something very special to be part of,” Vickers shared. “It’s been a labor of love since before the first issue landed in comic shops, and we’re excited to see the stories that players create with their very own Wardens.”

Join The Last Wardens TTRPG announcement celebration at New York Comic Con from 4-5pm on October 18, 2024, for signings by Amit Tishler and Elliot Sperl (Mad Cave Studios booth 3441), and immerse yourself in a game that pits a desperate, dysfunctional team of unlikely defenders against unimaginable horrors—all while embracing the over-the-top style of grindhouse cinema.
